FFXIV alpha test report: Focus on Limsa Lominsa and shops
The third alpha test for Final Fantasy XIV took place on April 20th. This report will focus on the city of Limsa Lominsa and the shops within it.
Sea City Sightseeing
This marine city-state was built on rocks rising from the water, with the paths between buildings consisting mostly of bridges. As is expected from a port city, there were large boats docked at the piers.

What stuck out the most about the city was the difference between the upper and lower levels of the city. It is built on multiple levels, with stairs and elevators for people to travel between upper and lower levels of the city. The floor is paved with stone bricks, but going to the lower levels and looking up at the blue sky created a mysterious atmosphere where you could really drink in the magnificence of the nature around you.

Shopping arcade
There are a few shops in the city. Some of them are strewn about town,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the majority of them are located in the shopping arcade located near the middle of town. The arcade is a long, narrow building with shops lined up on either side of the path running through it. There are guilds there set up by the guilds, like the alchemy and tailoring guilds, with items related to their crafts. Weve listed some of their line-up here.

There were masks and glasses for sale in the shopping arcade that were useable from lower ranks. Its nice that you can create your own style from an early point in the game.

High hopes for the two remaining cities
Limsa Lominsa, a city that looks like it was carved from the very rocks it was built on with a distinct medieval flavor, is quite a unique sight. This is the only city available during alpha testing, Uldah and Gridania still have yet to be seen. It will be interesting to see what new visuals await in the new cities in a game so focused on graphics.
