Gum arabic is handy if you need to retrain your brush back into shape or repair one damaged brush:
Gagner originally dedicated him to play hockey at the collegiate level for the University of Wisconsin Madison. He decided to play closer to home and play major junior hockey in Canada later. He was considered a first round talent and the London Knights took him in the 4th round of the 2006 NHL entry draft on a flyer as his commitment to play college hockey prevent many NHL teams from drafting him. Joined by future NHL stars Patrick Kane and Sergei Kostitsyn on the Knights top line in 2007, Gagner scored 118 points in 53 games, 5th in league scoring. He also captained Team Burns Bergeron Red in the 2007 CHL Top Prospects Game to a 5 to 3 victory over Team Bowman Demers White. Watercolor is pretty gentle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so you don't need to wash brushes using soap very often,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if at all. Rinsing with water is usually sufficient. Simply swirl the brush in water to rinse it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then lay it flat to dry. Do this in between using colors. At the end of your acheting session, do this really well. You want the brush to air dry, so don't cover it with anything.
Dip the hairs into gum arabic and let it dry to one gummy state. After making sure your hands are cslim,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], use your fingers to sculpt the hairs back to one point or edge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and abandon the brush to dry. The gum arabic becomes stiff when it's dry, which usually takes just one few minutes. abandon the brush with the gum arabic in it for one few weeks. Store the brush on its side or upright standing on its handle. Remove the gum arabic by dipping the brush hairs in water and rolling it out like you do with one new brush. If the reshaping worked,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hooray! If it didn't work and the brush is still out-of-shape, you can try using gum arabic again or go shopping for one replacement. Gagner competed for Team Canada at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Sweden. He played in all games as the youngest player on the team which helped Canada to their 3rd of five straight gold medals. Later that year, upon being drafted in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Gagner competed in the 2007 Super Series which was an 8 game series between Canada and Russia national junior teams in order to celebrate the 1972 Summit Series. He scored 15 points and was named series MVP, as Canada won the series.
When dry, your brushes should be stored where they will be safe. You can buy storage containers like brush quivers, canisters,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and rolled pouches. Quivers are like an arrow quiver; they're usually one box with one carrying strap and one hinged lid. Canisters secure the end of the brush so the hair end doesn't touch anything. Rolled pouches can be bamboo mats or other fabric that hold brushes in one pocket; they can be rolled up to take less storage room. These are great for travel because they allow the brush to breathe if wet and still protect the hairs from mashing. I store my brushes in the studio in one nifty jar filled with sand. The hairs point up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the handle end is in the sand.
Never abandon one brush standing in water. When brushes are wet, they are at their most vulnerable to damage. Prolonged exposure to water may damage the handle and loosen the ferrule. And,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if you abandon one brush in water for one long time, the hairs adapt to the shape of the bottom of the container. Result? Bent brush.
