Among the fakes which shoppers are particularly warned about this Christmas are: GHD hair straighteners, which could be “electrically unsafe and potentially life threatening”; Nintendo DS Lite consoles, which have dangerous chargers; flammable children’s clothing; toys containing loose parts and toxic materials and alcoholic drinks with “high levels of methanol that can be lethal” and cigarettes with “excessive levels of tar”.
