"I have a Kodak digital camera which also records short video clips. The videos are stored in a Quicktime format (*.MOV file) by the camera.Like most people, I use Windows, not Macintosh. I can open these videos with Quicktime player, but all I can do is play them - I can't edit them, compress them, or save them in other formats.Kodak told me I should buy Apple's video editing software - I checked into this option, but their software only runs on a Macintosh.I have Windows Movie Maker on my PC, but it won't open a Quicktime file.
I need either (a) some kind of video editing software for Windows that can handle this file, or (b) some kind of utility that can convert it to something I can use with Windows Movie Maker. I've heard that Adobe Premier will do it, but that costs hundreds of dollars and seems like something for professionals - I'm just an average guy who wants to cut out a piece of video and send it to my friends on the internet. I'm willing to spend a few dollars if I have to, but I'm not interested in investing in a video editing studio. Can anyone recommend a product that can help me?"

"Is there a free/cheap program for PC/Mac (preferably PC) that will split a .MOV into separate files? I have several 30 minute long .MOV files that I need to split into 6 or 7 pieces. The resulting files also have to be their own independent .MOV files so I can't use zip or some other compression program. Anyone have suggestions?"

mov editor is right the software you are looking for. This MOV Editor can perfectly edit MOV files without quality loss. With it, you can add personal things such as image, text, audio and special effect to it and output parameters. The Guide below will show you how to edit mov files step by step.

After you download and install the mov editor Editor, run it. Then click Add Videos icon to load MOV files. You can preview the videos on the right windows.

Step 2: edit .mov files.

What is MOV?

MOV is a file extension used by the QuickTime-wrapped files. The format was created by Apple Computer to work with multimedia files. Though MOV files are quite often found in the web, to play them on Windows computer one has to install an extra component or convert to other format. MOV is a container format and can contain video, animation, graphics, 3D and virtual reality (VR) content or text (for subtitles, for example).
