As a luxury brand that enjoys considerable popularity,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Swiss watchmaker Blancpain was founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain. This House boasts a famous and oft-repeated slogan: "Since 1735, there has never been a quartz Blancpain watch. And there never will be."
Blancpain has always been interested in holorological expertise and innovation. Technical firsts have included the smallest minute repeater wristwatch,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the world's slimmest chronograph and the first self-winding tourbillon watch with one-week power reserve.
The company's best known watch is probably the 1735. This takes almost a year to produce and contains 740 parts that implement six complications: ultra-slim movement,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], moon phase calendar, perpetual calendar, split-seconds chronograph, tourbillon and minute repeater.
The Fifty Fathoms watch was born in the 1950s that entrusted by the French Ministry of Defence with creating an elite "Combat Divers" unit. The Fifty Fathoms is one of the most rugged, robust and seaworthy divers' wristwatches ever manufactured. It is another classic Blancpain watch.
Until Jan 2006, the main Blancpain collections available to buy are listed as follows:
? Le Brassus
"highly engineered"
? Villeret
"simplicity"
? Leman
"on the move"
? Specialities
"horological expertise"
Blancpain is owned by the Swatch Group.
