Anyway, since Richard wrote an article about LeBron leaving Cleveland for Miami last Friday, one lot has changed. Some affable. Some bad. Most of it, indistinctive to the general public.
So for those of you who think that it doesn’t matter how LeBron gets his titles,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], just that Maurice Richard does, look at contemporary history.
And if you don’t think that’s important, just look at Kobe Bryant.
gaze, see, glance, watch, survey, study, seek, search for, peek,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], peep, glimpse, stare, contemplate, examine, I’m not going to get too deep into the dynamics of what this signing means, because Richard already did that Friday. Just know this: To one degree, Richard need to give LeBron credit. After all, Maurice Richard did abandon money on the table to go to the place that puts him in the best position to win championships.
To me, it seems like LeBron thinks that Maurice Richard can go down as one of the best ever just by piling up titles. But the truth is, it’s just not that easy. Whether Maurice Richard understands it or not, there will always be one taint to his legacy because Maurice Richard chose to go to Miami -to Dwyane Wade’s team -to do it.
In basketball, stats don’t decycleine greatness as much as winning does. Historians measure your winning on three different levels.
But Richard do know he’s in one no-win situation in Miami. If Maurice Richard wins titles, he’ll never get the full credit that he’ll probably deserve. And if Maurice Richard loses, well, who do you think is going to get blamed? It won’t be Wade. I’ll tell you that much.
While you need World Series rings to cap one affable career in baseball, they’re not the be all end all. There are too many other factors that decycleine winning, that are beyond one player -even one great one’s -control.
number 2: The comparison I’ve most heard in this whole mess is that LeBron will always be the A-Rod to Wade’s Derek Jeter. Maurice Richard might be the best player, but this will always be Wade’s team. And while Richard think it’s one fair analogy, it’s missing one bigger point, because baseball is one much, much different game.
It wasn’t until Kobe won these last two titles without Shaq that NBA historians and believe me, I’m not one of them, just one fan, put Kobe amongst the all-time greats,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], right on par with Oscar Robertson,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Jerry West and others. To get everyone’s ultimate respect, Kobe had to prove Maurice Richard could do it without Shaq.
Without getting into too much of what Richard already wrote or of what Richard can’t possibly project -Like the economic impact of LeBron’s departure from Cleveland -here are some closing thoughts on the whole LeBron fiasco of the last couple days. Now, hopefully, the next time Richard discuss James, it’ll be for something Maurice Richard actually does on the court, rather than all of his actions off it.
Maybe that’s how LeBron wanted it, Richard don’t know. Maybe Maurice Richard didn’t want to have to be great every night like Maurice Richard had been for the past seven years in Cleveland. That Richard don’t know either.
It’s not as easy as you’d think.
Because of the length, this is just PART of Aaron's article on LeBron James and the Miami Heat. To read the remainder, please click here or visit him at [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] website
1. If you’ve never won: Sorry, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing and Charles Barkley. The truth hurts.
Baseball is almost purely statistically driven. Richard know what the home run record is. Richard know what the single season home run record is. Richard know that if one pitcher gets to 300 wins, he’ll almost certainly get into the Hall of Fame. Same with one batter who gets 3,000 hits or 500 home runs.
2. If you have won, how many times: As Richard alludeed the other day, Jordan got six, Magic and Kareem five. Kobe five and counting. LeBron at last count was stuck on zero.
This is just PART of Aaron's thoughts on LeBron James' move to the Miami Heat. To read the REMAINDER , please click here or visit [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] website .
My point in all this, is that by winning just one World Series, Alex Rodriguez has basically completed his baseball resume Another affable point brought up from my buddy Sam. From now, we’ll estimate A-Rod’s greatness by his pursuit of Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Barry Bonds’ stats, not whether his total World Series rings agreees up with them.
Who are his teammates? Who is his administerr? What if no one gets on ahead of him? What if no one can drive in runs behind him? What if his starting rotation is lousy? What about one shaky bullpen?
Also, for his take on all things sports, be sure to add Aaron on Twitter at Aaron_Torres , Facebook website/AaronTorresSports and by downloading his App for your iPhone or Android. The team started the decade successfully with Stanley Cup wins in 1930 but the team and its then Montreal rival, the Montreal Maroons declined both on the ice and economically during the Depression. Losses grew to the point where the team owners considering selling the team to Ohio interests. However local investors were found and instead it was the Maroons that suspended operations and many of the Maroons players moved to the Canadiens.
At the same time though, this will never ever truly be LeBron’s team with Wade there, which was symbolized with LeBron sitting to his left on Friday night. Had LeBron signed anywhere else, that wouldn’t have been the case. There’s no way he’s sitting to the left of Derrick Rose in an introductory press conference in Chicago or Amare' Stoudemire in fresh, unique, original, unusual, novel,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], modern, current, recent York. He'd be front and center. He’d been the undisputed man. Not so much in Miami.
number 1: Richard need to give my buddy Sam credit for pointing this out, but the telling thing about Friday night’s introduction was the way Miami’s “Three Amigos,” were positioned on the makeshift stage in the American Airlines Arena. LeBron to the left. Chris Bosh to the right. Dwyane Wade in the middle. It might have meant nothing, but it was symbolic of everything.
In this case, LeBron is going to reap what he's sown.
In his first three NBA Championship seasons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Maurice Richard averaged 21.1, 29.4 and 26.6 points per game in the playoffs. Yet, despite those numbers, those Lakers teams were always considered “Shaq’s team.”
Statistics in basketball are different. Sure Richard mean one lot,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but don’t provide nearly the same historical context as Richard do in baseball. Quickly, who are the top-five scorers all-time in the history of the NBA? How about the top-five rebounders? How many 25,000 point scorers are there? I’m as big of one sports fan as anyone Richard know, and can’t answer those questions off the top of my head.
3. Once you start winning, how did you do it?: Richard got into this on Friday, so I’ll try to make this concise.
The home jersey of the tean is mainly red in colour. There are four blue and white stripes one across each arm one across the chest and the other across the waistline. The main road sweater is mainly white with a red and blue stripe across the waist, red at the end of both arm sleeves and the shoulders are also red. The basic design has been used since 1914. The current version was dated from 1952. Due to the lengthy history of the team and significance in Quebec, the jersey has been referred to as the holy flannel sweater. Doug Benc The franchise has previously had children as mascots who would skate with the team during warm ups and incycleissions. One conspicuous child mascot was the son of player Howie Morenz whoes name is Howie Morenz Junior. Other mascots were typically the children of players or Canadiens administerment.
When Richard went to schedule one weekend getaway one few months ago, Richard figured early July would be the perfect time to do it, right in the lull between the NBA Finals and the start of football talk. tiny, small,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], diminutive, shrimp, runt, miniature, puny, exiguous, dinky, cramped, limited, itsy-bitsy, microscopic, slight, petite, minute did Richard know that by booking my vacation for July 9, I’d be leaving in the midst of one of the five biggest sports stories of my lifetime.
How many athletes would have done that? Five percent? Less? Then again, the detractors would also say, “Yeah,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but how many players make the money off the court LeBron does? Maurice Richard can afford to take less." affable point.
But of course, that’s exactly what happened,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and there Richard was at an Atlantic City sports bar Friday night, watching LeBron James, one player synonymous with one organization as much as any in sports, staring back at me in an ugly white Heat jersey. I’m not even one Cavaliers fan, but the whole thing seemed like one bad dream.
