Counterfeit items taken off the streets since 2007 include 37,000 DVDs, 27,000 cigarettes, 22,000 batteries, 1,100 bottles of vodka and 2,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],010 bottles of water.

The finds were released to Plaid Cymru AM Chris Franks after he submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act to Cardiff council.
Requests to Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan councils revealed they seized thousands of fake DVDs and CDs and also thousands of items of designer clothes, including bogus Hugo Boss, Timberland and Prada items, tennis rackets, golf clubs, hair straighteners and iPods.

But Mr Franks, AM for South Wales Central,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said consumer watchdogs had told him the figures “belie the true level of unscrupulous activity”.
“There is a huge temptation for cash-strapped parents to look for bargains at Christmas,” he said. “But if the cheap DVD you buy is poor quality or won’t play and the counterfeit clothing falls apart after a couple of washes, then you will be hugely disappointed.”
