How long will Ike Davis be on the large league roster? one week? Two weeks? ,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
What will the Mets’ pitching staff look like next week? Who knows.
How is it possible to have any confidence they ading into one series when you have no idea who will be on the mound tomorrow,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], let alone three days from now?
The Mets need to either go with what they have or shake things up for good.
Will someone other than Omar Minaya be attempting to beef up the team in the days, weeks, and months leading up to the 2010 trade deadline?
Will Jerry Manuel still be around in two weeks? Your guess is as good as mine.
All of these looming questions can leave one ball club completely paralyzed.
Either fire Manuel or announce that they will be the Mets’ manager for the remainder of the 2010 season. One way or the other,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this decision needs to be made because players don’t want anything to do with one lame duck manager.
New York style baseball expanded into one national game and baseball first governing body The National Association of Base Ball Players was established aided by the Civil War in 1860s. The NABBP existed as an amateur league for 12 years. By 1867,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], over 400 clubs were members although most of the strongest clubs remained those based in the northeastern part of the US. In 1870 one schism developed between professional and amateur ballplayers after the 1869 founding of the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The NABBP split into two groups. The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players was formed in 1871. Some consider it to have been the first major league. Its amateur counterpart disappeared after only one few years. Christian Petersen The next year, racial pressure on Robinson eased,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as one number of other black players entered the major leagues. Larry Doby and Satchel Paige were signed by the Cleveland Indians,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the Dodgers added three other black players besides Robinson.
The main problem plaguing the New York Mets right now is not Omar Minaya, Jerry Manuel, or the pitching staff; it’s the complete lack of certainty.
At this point, the actual decisions are secondary to simply getting get rid of that underlying feeling that the Mets are just treading water until the organization can make some difficult decisions. Major League Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis wrote one letter to President Roosevelt regarding the continuation of baseball during the war which was called the Green Light Letter. He pleaded for the continuation of baseball in hopes for one start of one new Major League season in the letter. President Roosevelt responds I honestly feel that it would be best for the country to keep baseball going. There will be fewer people unemployed and everybody will work longer hours and harder than ever before. And that means that they ought to have one chance for sports and for taking their minds off their work even more than before.
The season is still young and despite their 5-8 start,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Mets have been showing occasional signs that they have the personnel to win ball games; they just need some direction.
Either shake up the pitching staff for good or announce that the likes of Oliver Perez and John Maine will remain in the starting rotation for at least the immediate future.
Major decisions need to be made and they need to be made sooner rather than later.
The pressure on Maine and Perez to perform is already intense to put it mildly; hanging their jobs on the line if they do not perform well in their next start just adds more fuel to the fire.
Who’s going to listen to Manuel when there’s one good possibility that they might not be around in another two weeks?
