11 ways to be promoted
Pay attention to detail in everything that you do, but don't be smug about it. Network whenever you have the opportunity. The more people you know the greater your chances of being in the right place at the right time. Be enthusiastic and show your commitment to your vocation and role. Senior managers be will want your energy and drive to rub off on others in your school or organisation. Remain open-minded about your route to the top. An unusual career path will help you to stand out from the crowd and will give you experiences that others may not have been exposed to. Aim for a breadth of experience that others will find it hard to compete with and change roles if you feel you are in danger of stagnating in your career. Focus on your goal and create opportunities for gaining the experience that you need. Don't wait for opportunity to come knocking at your door, but be pro-active about searching for new experiences. Have an action plan. Carry out a SWOT analysis and examine the strengths, weaknesses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], opportunities and threats to your career. Use this to inform your continued CPD. Request feedback and learn from it. Maintain, adjust or build upon what you do. Show resilience and stamina. There are bound to be set-backs along the way but look at them as learning experiences rather than problems. Examine your belief systems. Banish limiting beliefs and release your power, energy and potential as you travel towards your goal. Modelling - find a colleague who has a specific skill or behaviour that you need, and model them.
